McGee may be a touch old to be called a rising star...

but I think that's exactly what he is.

He should be the equal, recruiting wise, of what we lost in Bryan McClendon. He's a founding member of the Minority Coaches Association in Georgia, which should help us tremendously with a lot of the Atlanta schools (where we haven't always done the best).

Coaching wise, Carver had not had a winning season in the previous 9 years before he got there. He went 88-19 in 8 seasons, including a 15-0 state championship season. 4 out of his last 5 years they made it to at least the state semifinals. His players obviously love him as he was carried off the field by his Georgia Southern players after serving as Interim Head Coach for their first ever bowl win.

The trend in college coaching recently has been for high school coaches to make a pretty big impact in college (Malzahn and Pruitt to name a few). I think the reason is pretty simple: high school coaches are good teachers, and there's far more teaching in college football than NFL coaches realize.
